BLUES THEORY

For most of the time that I had been playing a guitar I had been told that music theory was not important for guitar. And for years I had bought into that. Partly because I was lazy and did not want to take the time to do it and partly because I did not want to be the only one studying it. When I started playing with the 50 blues backing tracks I began to realize that we had all been using music theory all along. We just did not know enough about it to call it what it was.

ROCKET JAPANESE REVIEWS AND EDGES

Japan lies at the western edge of the Pacific Ocean and consists of several thousand islands. On these islands (or expressed in numbers: 378,000 square kilometers, which is about a half times as big as Great Britain) 125 million people live. In the “hit list” of the population richest countries that use Rocket Japanese Review and Japan is ranked 7th The population lives largely on the four main islands Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. With so many people on a pile of course there are many problems: At a density of 335 inhabitants per square kilometer, it is no wonder that all means of transport and routes are overcrowded.

WHAT IS TRIPLE WEIGHTING IN CHESS PIECES?

With cheaper chess sets, the pieces are easily pushed over with a light brush of the finger past the piece which can easily upset the whole board layout. So with better pieces such as these from Google: http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-33,GGLJ:en&um=1&authorid=1104921&cdn=ChessBaron+Chess+Set&q=&scoring=pd

– heavy alloy is added to the hewn out base which gives it bottom weighting and subsequent on-board stability. Triple weighting is a mark of a good chess set but there are other factors to look for too. But be wary – no chess set is worth over 1000 GBP or so. It’s all profit margin justified by some special stamp or authentication device. A good alternative is these pieces which are the same as Jaques sets and are from the same supplier as Jaques: chessbaron.co.uk/chess-X2016.htm. Start with looking for triple weighted chess pieces and look also for quality wood such as ebony and budrose (or bud rosewood) – the extra cost is well worthwhile.

THERE’S NOTHING LIKE THE CLASSIC BLUES

The genre of blues music reaches far and wide. If you start researching the different types of blues, you could spend days or even weeks learning about the history of blues music. . My personal favorite are the classic blues. To me, there is nothing quite like these type of blues. In fact, if I were to have the desire to learn how to play the blues guitar, I would definitely want to learn some blues songs that fall into the above category. If you are considering learning the blues guitar, make sure that you get some great and well thought of instructional materials to help you in your quest.

THE HYDE COLLECTION MAKES GREAT ART ACCESSIBLE

The Hyde Collection in Glen Falls, New York, presents anyone an opportunity to see some of the best examples of art through the ages. In fact, their collection includes items from as far back as the 4th Century BCE, making it as expansive as it is enlightening. Here, visitors are treated to paintings by the old masters and the biggest names in modern art. Textiles and furniture that are fine examples of arts and crafts are also among the collection’s holdings, as is an impressive range of sculpture. This collection was principally assembled by the Hyde family in the early 20th Century but the collection continues to acquire new pieces today. The main gallery is the old Hyde residence, now opened to the public and serving as a means for curious visitors to experience some of the greatest art of their time as well as many other eras. Expect to see Rembrandt and Rubens as well as Picasso, Degas and van Gogh in these halls.

JACQUELINE DU PRE IS LEGENDARY

There are only few classical musicians (or musicians of any sort in fact) that will remain remembered even after they have left us. Very few posses a great gift of music that will not only inspire and move audiences while performing, but also remain in the memory of those who heard them for many years. Such was the gift of Jacqueline du Pre and she will remain in many people’s hearts. She was a great cellis, a great human being and a great humanist. She left this worls much too early, but nevertheless the sound of her cello remains in the ears. Thankfully, there are some audio and video recordings that display her unique talent.

MOUNTAIN DULCIMER IN THE MOVIES

When I think of mountain dulcimer I keep picturing the assassins in the movie Kung Fu Hassle. They were very deadly and very powerful. It was very unique that their instrument of trade is the mountain dulcimer. And the way they sit with one leg crossed to cradle the instrument, as if sitting on an invisible chair, is very sinister. Although they are the villains it didn’t change my mind about the mountain dulcimer at all. For during the time the assassins were attacking they produce a different yet beautiful kind of music that only this the mountain dulcimer can make.

INVENTIVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

My fiancée and I are planning our wedding for August next year.  We have been searching high and low for a wedding photographer in our area who can deliver what we want and at a price to suit our budget.  We also have in our minds an idea of where we would like our photographs to be taken but this might prove a bit difficult as it would be in a private garden of a wonderful old Victorian house close to the church in which we will say our vows.  I have seen my friend’s wedding album and the photos and album were done by a photographer in the local area who has shown remarkable inventiveness and creativeness in all of the photographs.  I might give him a call and if the price is right go with him.

POLYNESIAN TATTOO DESIGNS

Considered to be among the most popular tattoo designs that people get, Polynesian tattoo designs have definitely gone a long way from just being a symbol of status for New Zealand’s Maori people. In fact, the very same Maori people have a long history of using tattoos for different purposes. It can be religious, for war, to identify with one’s tribe and to acknowledge the status of a person theirs are tattoos that are heavily rooted in tradition. In fact, its common place for Maori women to have tattoos as well although not as much as the men and these tattoos were often placed on their chin or lips. Most likely, it’s for decorative purposes like what jewelry is to the modern woman.

WHERE RAP FIRST BEGAN

Rapping developed both inside and outside of hip hop culture, and began with the street parties thrown in the Bronx neighborhood of New York in the 70s by Jamaican expatriate Kool Herc and others. The parties introduced dancehall and the practice of having a “Master of Ceremonies,” or MC, get up on stage with the DJ and shout encouragements to the crowd in a practice known as ‘toasting’. Over time, those shouts of encouragement became more longer and more complex and cross-pollinated with the spoken-word poetry scene to evolve into rap and also paving the way for popular rap ringtones. It’s believed that the first rapper to actually call himself an MC was Melle Mel from Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five.

LEARN GUITAR DVD: FORGE AHEAD!

I’ve been playing guitar for a large part of my life.

I began playing at age 9 or 10 and (with a few time-outs here and there) have continued to play. I’m now in my early 40s so that kind of puts a perspective on how long I’ve messed around with the instrument.

Although I can hold my own in most settings, I should really be a better guitar player than I am considering how long I’ve done it.

One of my problems has been finding a teaching method conducive to my time schedule and learning style.

I think the Learn Guitar DVD program might be the best way for me to forge ahead.

MOUNTAIN PHOTOGRAPHY 3

FITS IN THE PALM OF YOUR HANDFor me, nothing can exemplify mountain photography like images of the Great Smoky Mountains. You have to experience the sun setting from Morton’s Overlook in the Smokies or watch a sunrise from behind them at the Foothills Parkway. It is impossible to describe this properly with words. A photograph that perfectly captures this moment will say what words cannot. That is what I strive for each time I approach a scene like these and others. I have dedicated myself to photographing as much of the splendor and beauty of the Smoky Mountains for as long as God will allow me.
